Rules for an Energetic Morning

Posted by Data Locker - A Pot of Information on December 26, 2008

1204903122_morning-exercises-1It is physically true that some people find it hard to wake-up so early in the morning. This holds true especially to the night people. The medical term used for those who are having problem in waking-up is dysania. “The waking process is complex”, says Milton DeLucchi. What is important is that we must know how to discipline ourselves to certain areas for our body. The following suggests the rules for waking-up alert:

1). Just get enough sleep.

We all know that sleeping is very important to make ourselves refreshed from our day to day activities. Experts have studied that those who sleep more than ten hours end-up becoming irritable and fuzzy-minded. Getting too much sleep is as bad as getting only a few hours of sleep. Sleeping for 8 hours long would be the ideal thing.

2). Respect your rhythms.

Our body is composed of the so-called chemical seas of hormones and other fluids which are interrelated and they act as one. When we get to change our sleeping habits, some of our so-called bodily “tides” may not go in harmony with one another. Thus, resulting to having a problem. We have to always remind ourselves that if we have the opportunity to sleep we must take it. We got to have enough sleep and we must respect our body rhythms.

3). Wiggle yourself Awake.

One way t make ourselves awake in the morning is to bend our fingers, then after doing so, wiggling our toes. These simple body activities are helpful to make ourselves up in the morning. We’re actually not done yet, next thing is let’s take one deep breath and hold it while you count to seven, then swing one arm across your chest, then the other. Bend each leg and gently twist your neck back and forth. These are simple but effective ways to fight drowsiness

4). Keep the familiar fresh.

When you’re already awake, begin to organize your days activities like what to have for breakfast, what unusual things that could be done for the day. This will help become alert through out the day.

5). Expect to like it.

We must welcome each morning with a smile on our face to attract the positive things for the day. What should be set in our mind is that we will be doing something enjoyable and exciting for the rest of the day and the coming days.

These tips for an alert and healthy morning will definitely make each day of our life just right.

Risk of Smoking to Women’s Heart

Posted by Data Locker - A Pot of Information on December 25, 2008

teenage_smokerBack in the old days, only men were seen smoking anywhere they want to. But nowadays, women are also smoking for whatever reasons. However, researchers have stressed the adverse consequences of smoking to the human heart. Recently, it was studied that smoking is riskier to women’s heart than to men’s.

Norwegian physicians report their study to the European Society of Cardiology that women who smoke have heart attacks closely 14 years earlier than women who don’t smoke. As for men, those who smoke have heart attacks six years earlier than men who don’t smoke.

“This is not a minor difference,” Dr. Silvia Prior assertedi, a cardiologist at the Scientific Institute in Pavia, Italy. “Women need to realize they are losing much more than men when they smoke,” she said. Female sports would be more advantageous than puffing up cigars which can only give harm to the body.

Another Physician Dr. Morten Grundtvig and colleagues from the Innlandet Hospital Trust in Lillehammer, Norway, based their discovery on data from 1,784 patients admitted at a hospital in their place.

It was found out that as early as 64 men had their first heart attack while those who don’t smoke will have their first attack at age 72. For women who smoke, first attack happens to those aging 66 and for those who don’t will have it at age 81.One way to avoid this is to apply the aerobic fitness pilates kind of activity in order to divert the women from smoking.

With this study, it was concluded that the difference for women was about 14 years and for men, the difference is six years.

Medical Doctors suspected that female hormones protect women against heart disease. Estrogen raises the levels of good cholesterol as well as enabling blood vessel walls to relax easily. For those who already got addicted to smoking may do the habit of doing sports acrobatics.

Grundtvig warned the women who smoke that they might go through menopausal stage earlier, leaving them less protected against heart attack.

cWhile we buy a lot of foods for Christmas season, we should be aware enough of the one’s that we buy making sure they are nutritious and free from harmful things to the body. Things that we missed to be doing with the food that we eat should be changed. In here, the top dirtiest foods shall be revealed.

First on the list are the eggs, according to the study conducted by the experts, they had estimated that more than 2 million germy eggs get into circulation each year, sickening 660,000 people each year and killing as many as 300. A wise advice when people buy eggs is that individuals should make sure make sure the carton says they’re pasteurized and never buy a dozen that contains any obvious cracks or leaks.

Peaches are really good but one should take note that peach skins are doused in pesticides before they make it to grocery store to prevent blemishes. On average, a peach can contain as many as nine different pesticides, according to the USDA.

Pre-packaged salad mixes are commonly bought by some of the consumers. Pathogens may still be lurking so be sure to wash your greens before tossing in your salad bowl. Do not think the sellers had already washed them. You should wash them yourself to make sure.

Melons are what most of us would like to have on the table after meals. DFA found-out that 3.5 percent of the melons carried Salmonella and Shigella, the latter bacteria normally passed person-to-person. These are germs which are really not good for the health. Recommendation before eating the said fruit is to scrub them with a little mild dish soap and warm water before slicing.

Scallions are likable but it commonly has bugs like the parasite Cryptosporidium, Shigella and Salmonella, scallions present a food safety problem because of the way they grow and lack of proper washing. Again washing it properly at home is the safest way to avoid getting illnesses which could only bring problems to the family’s health.

The Truth about Yawning

Posted by Data Locker - A Pot of Information on December 18, 2008

yawning0712041A study has concluded that when the head of a person is overheated what comes next is the yawning. We tend to wonder why people yawn; we asked why it happens just before and after sleeping, why certain diseases lead to excessive yawning, and why breathing through the nose and cooling off the forehead often stop yawning.

According to study the major reason why individuals yawn is because of the brain temperature. A researcher named Andrew Gallup said that brains operate most efficiently when cool, and physical adaptations have evolve to allow the maximum cooling of the brain.

Sometimes when we are with our peers, we notice that when one person yawns the other one’s would do so as well. Gallup explained that this is an evolved mechanism which normally happens in order for a group of people to stay alert and active.

There is a study on parakeets which exists in three conditions namely; increasing temperature, high temperature and a moderate control temperature. While the frequency of yawns did not increase during the latter two conditions, it more than doubled when the researchers increased the bird’s ambient temperature.

“Based on the brain cooling hypothesis, we suggest that there should be a thermal window in which yawning should occur,” Gallup said. “For instance, yawning should not occur when ambient temperatures exceed body temperature, as taking a deep inhalation of warm air would be counterproductive. In addition, yawning when it is extremely cold may be maladaptive, as this may send unusually cold air to the brain, which may produce a thermal shock.”

The new findings also explain why tired individuals often yawn, since both exhaustion and sleep deprivation have been shown to increase deep brain temperatures, again prompting a yawn-driven cool down. Yawning additionally appears to facilitate transitional states of the brain, such as going from sleep to waking periods.
